We Are...

We, the memebers of the Society of God's Reign are an organization of men dedicated full time to the service of poor, margenalized, oppressed and disadvantaged. We are made up of baptised and consecrated men who live the evangelical counsels of obedience, poverty and chastity. Our Society was founded by The Most Rev. Dr. A. M. Chinnappa SDB D.D Ph.D., Archbishop Emeritus of Madras-Mylapor. We believe that dedicating our life for the betterment of the lowest in the soial strata is the way in which God wants to fullfil our calling.

Status in the Church

The Society of God's Reign is a Catholic Religious congregation. It functions in the Church following all its norms. It is currently a 'pious accociation' (as an initial canonical requisite - Cf. CIC. 301, 1 ff) under the patronage of the Bishop of the Diocese of Vellore.

SDR Friends

Christ called us all friends. The members of the Society of God’s Reign must have such love towards each other and towards the members of their apostolate - the weaker ones. Hence Our Founder wanted us to be known as SDR Friends to the world.

“As the Father loves me, so I also love you. Remain in my love … This is my commandment love one another as I love you … I have called you my friends.” cf. John 15:9-15

The principal aspect of Christ’s Mission is love. This is His commandment which He commands His apostles to practice. Not out of compulsion but by conviction, the members of the Society must love each other as Christ did and fulfil the law itself.
